Developing Talents #3--Script Writing for Puppet Show

Since my cousin and I love puppetry and have a lot of puppets, we decided to write a script so we could put on a puppet show.  It was called THE DOLPHIN WHO CRIED SHARK.  It was about a dolphin who told all of her friends that she was being chased by a shark.  They were all worried about her, but in the end he told them she was just kidding.  They said they didn't want to be her friend again.  Then when she actually did get chased by a shark, she had a hard time getting them to believe her.  They thought she was a liar.  She told them he was not joking and they helped her.  She learned that she should not lie or other sea creatures would never believe her again.
One of the commandments is to not lie.  We should always tell the truth.  That's a good choice that Heavenly Father and Jesus want us to make.

Developing Talents #4 --Puppets

Because of my cousin, I started to get interested in puppetry.  We went to an all-day puppet festival and we got to make lots of different kinds of puppets.  We made sock puppets, wanna-be's (puppets made from stuffed animals), and marionettes.  I made another marionette from a stuffed animal at my house.  Next time I am going to take a class on how to use my voice for different types of puppets.

Swim Team 2013

Swim Team Try Outs
Swim Team Try Outs

My first swim meet in Wendell.  I was kind of scared for my first swim meet.  I was afraid that when I dove off the block that my goggles would come off.  My mom said "You can do it!" and that made me feel like I could do it.

BackStroke time 31.72  *first place
Butterfly time 34.99  *first place
Freestyle time 27.72  *first place
Breaststroke time 31.63 *second place
Medley Relay time 1.56.10  *first place

One thing I like about swim team is that we wear modest swimming suits.  They cover my body and we don't wear 2 piece swimming suits.  It is important to eat healthy to be on swim team.  If you are tired or eat things that don't give you energy, you cannot swim fast.  Our bodies are a temple and if we don't take care of it, it is like knocking down your temple.

Developing Talents--#7

List 5 things you can do to help around your home.  Discuss the importance of obeying and honoring your parents and learning how to work.

1.  Keep my room clean
2.  Do the dishes
3.  Be obedient to my parents
4.  Don't fight with my sister
5.  Set a good example to the people in my family

We read this story for family home evening.  Jake wanted to go fishing, but he was supposed to clean his room.  He lied to his mom and went fishing instead of cleaning his room.  While he was fishing, a hook got caught in his back.  He wish he had cleaned his room instead.  He repented and cleaned his room.

Learning and Living the Gospel #10--Appropriate Media

My sister planned a movie night for our Activity Day girls for one of her Personal Progress goals.  All the girls came to our house and we had a lesson.  The lesson was about a girl who went to a party and they played some music that made her feel uncomfortable.  She didn't feel comfortable so she called her mom to come and get her from the party.  But before her mom could get there, the girls turned off the music because she was setting a good example.
Heavenly Father and Jesus want me to make good choices in our movies and music.  We should listen to good music and watch good movies.
After the lesson, we watched Finding Nemo and ate some popcorn.

Helping at Park View Care Center--Serving Others #1

My grandma and grandpa are in charge of this place called Park View for church and family home evening there. I helped almost every Sunday and Monday.  I loved helping there.  My sister and I would go there early so we could help my grandpa and grandma wheel in the people.  Then we would go to room to room and ask, "would you like to come to church today?"  Some would say no, but lots would say yes.  Sometimes I would sing there for Family Home Evening. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus are happy that I helped brighten their day.
